Vigilance Teams caught power-theft
Vigorous drive against those who are stealing electricity, during the drive, vigilance teams caught power theft to the tune of Rs. 18.03 lac from Bharuch District. Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd and South Gujarat Electricity Company jointly conducted the drive during 21st to 23rd July in urban and rural areas of Bharuch district, sending stern signals to those who are stealing power.
While checking 2855 connections, 65 cases of power theft had come to notice, cases were registered against 18. Imposing fine, supplementary bills to the tune of Rs. 18.03 lac were issued by the authority. 38 teams of Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam and 18 teams from South Gujarat Electricity Company jointly conducted the operation; the areas covered are Dehgam and Karmad villages of Bharuch Sub-Division, Ankleshwar Town Sub-Division’s Kasbatiwad, Faiz Park, Ranchodnagar, Chandani Park, Fateh Nagar, Jenab Park, Modi Nagar, Sarvodaya Nagar, Roshan Park, Samata Society, Saraswati Society, and Raj Pardi Sub-Division’s Indore, Panetha and Mota Vasana Village. Two companies of State Reserve Police, local police and Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam’s police were pressed in to service to avoid the untoward incident.
State to Constitute Sickle-Cell Anaemia Control Society
Health Minister Shri Jay Narayan Vyas, while addressing a meet in Gandhinagar, announced that State Government has constituted the governing body of Sickle-Cell Anemia Control Society, seeking comprehensive approach to control spread of the disease. Minister further informed that tribal pockets of Valsad, Aahva and Navsari is taking special measures, staff of around 135 P.H.Cs, 33 C.H.Cs are pressed in to service, they collect blood samples to identify the cases. As part of special programme to control and treat the disease, the Medical College staff and Civil Hospital doctors are also taking comprehensive measures, patients are getting treatment. Various N.G.O has also extended their cooperation in the programme.
Forest Minister Shri Mangubhai Patel has expressed confidence that by forming the Sickle-Cell Anaemia Control Society we may control it among the children. The spread of disease in children is our concern.
The meet deliberated upon drafting the constitution of Sickle-Cell Anaemia Control Society, also discussed about roping in N.G.Os, treating serious cases, taking preventive measures and providing medical assistance to the patients.
E-Voting Programme begins from 2nd August
For the first time in India, State Election Commission Gandhinagar is exploring E-Voting options, under the initiative (1) The voter may cast his vote in the ward identified by Election Commission from his Laptop or P.C. (2) If the voter seeks E-Voting option and he is not having Internet facility than (2) he can cast his vote from E-Polling Stations. Necessary directives have been issued to Municipal Commissioners of all the Corporations and Election Staff.
E-Voting initiative, on experimental basis, may be implemented by State Election Commission for the upcoming Municipal Corporation’s elections in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, and Rajkot.
Arrangements are already made at Civic-Centres so that the voter may give his application for E-Voting options. Municipal Commissioners are instructed to make wide publicity of E-Voting option, which is being explored for the first time in India. State Election Commission has appealed voters to seek the benefit of On-Line Voting Facility.

Shri C.J.Patel takes over as Executive Director Indext-C
General Administrative Department (GAD) has made orders appointing Shri C.J.Patel as the Executive Director of Indext-C. Shri Patel took over the charge on 19th August.
