of the people Shri Keshubhai Patel was re-elected from 40-Visavadar
Legislative Assembly Constituency
in the 10th Legislative Assembly.
Shri Keshubhai
Patel started his career in public life as “Swayam Sevak”
of Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh(RSS) and overcame numerous trials on
his journey to the position of Chief Minister of Gujarat second
time.
A true son of soil Shri Keshubhai patel was
born in a ‘Simple Farmer’s Family in Rajkot’.
He held the esteemed posts of Vice president
and President, Gujarat Pradesh Jansangh.
He also rendered his valuable services as Director, Rajkot
Nagrik Sahakari bank during 1969-74.
He was an active Member, Rajkot Municipality from 1967 to
1974, leader, Rajkot Agricultural Lift Irrigation Society during
1967-72. Shri Keshubhai
Patel stepped into
public life with vigorous fight againstl workers’ repression.
He participated
actively in Navnirman agitation, Goa Satyagrah, Anti Price Rise
agitation, movement of cow slaughter ban etc.
He also emerged victorious constantly ever
after winning his first Assembly Election in 1975.
He has been immensely popular with his approach to protest
fearlessly for public issues, development of Gujarat, problems and
issues related to various section of people.
Shri Keshubhai Patel had earned intimate
public honour by winning their hearts while leading the State as the
Chief Minister during March 19, 1995 to October 21 1995.
He held portfolios of Minister for
Agriculture and Irrigation in 1975-76, Public Works Minister in
1977-80, Minister for Narmada , Water Resources. Transport and Ports
from March 4 to October 26, 1990 and Opposition Leader from October
26, 1990 to March 1995. Now,
he has won clear verdict of people to hold the reins of Bharatiya
Janata Party rule with determination to relieve Gujarat from
political evils. He holds the esteemed post of National Vice
President, Bharatiya Janata
Party.
His contribution
in agricultural field as progressive farmer is noteworthy.
He has done extensive study of many facets of
development in details to lead Gujarat to security prosperity and
peace. Shri Keshubhai Patel has unique understanding of philosophy
of life. Leading simple
and straight forward personal life, Shri Patel possesses hobbies
of philosophical reading, nature, music and tourism. He has
visited foreign countries like USA, Britain, Portugal and Izrael to
study their development and culture.
