Worked as President of the Indian Student’s Association in London. Ex-
dean King Edward Hospital and Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College; Served as a personal physician
to Gandhiji; entered active politics in 1932;
for some time Director General Health and Medical Services and
Secretary, Health Department, Government of India. Organised medical aid
centres for the displaced
persons during the post partition period; appointed Diwan of the old
Baroda State.
Minister, Public Works Department, Government
of Bombay, 1949; Finance Minister, Government of Bombay 1952-60; Chief
Minister, Gujarat State from 1-5-60 to 18-9-63, when his Government
resigned.
Travels abroad : England, Germany, Switzerland, Austria,
France and Japan.
