Activities:
As a student took leading part in debates, sports and other
activities at School and College. Established Jyoti Mandal;
conducted classes in
adult literacy; was arrested in 1941-42 during the ‘Quit India’
freedom Movement for offering individual Satyagrah and went to jail for one year. Member, Surat Borough Municipality 1946; President, Law Committee Surat
Municipality 1946-1949; President Standing Committee since 1952.
Member Gujarat University Senate and Advisosry Committee, All India
Radio; he connected with various institutions; was
Education Minister in the
reorganised State of Bombay.
Literary
Activities:
Started Jyoti Mandal and published many thought provoking pamphlets
on Political, Economic and Social problems.
Minister
for Law in the Government of Dr. Jivraj. He was Minister for Home
and Law and Deputy leader of the House. He was Chief Minister of
Gujarat from: 20-9-65 to 12-5-1971.
